Principal's CORNER - AUGUST 2022

Principal's CORNER - AUGUST 2022

Hello Rio Linda Community. Welcome to the 22/23 school year. It is now my second year serving as principal for RLPA, and I am eager to get started again! We are focusing on providing support and high quality instruction for students that will help them grow socially and achieve academically. Our teachers will be tracking each student throughout the year to ensure we work toward our vision of getting every student to grade level while making individual progress each year. We are starting the year with optimism and planning for more activities and ways to connect. Students will see the return of rallies, dances, and assemblies. We will once again welcome parents back on campus for community events. I look forward to getting to spend more time with you and our wonderful Squires!

This year, we have two new administrators on the Squire Team. Mrs. Sara Cosentino is our new Vice Principal, and Ms. Eve Hogerheide is our new Activity Director. Read below to learn more about them:

Sara Cosentino has been an educator for 17 years from elementary to secondary. She received her Bachelor’s degree, Multiple Subjects Teaching Credential, and Master’s in Education from UCLA (Go Bruins!) and her Administrative Services Credential and Single Subject Math Credential from Santa Clara University.  She taught in Los Angeles for a number of years with elementary and middle school students then moved back up north to the Bay where she was raised and continued to work in middle school science and mathematics as a Department Lead and Chair. As much as she absolutely loved being an educator, she has recently had more of an administrative focus, looking at inequities in school sites and restorative justice practices with students. In her free time, she loves being outdoors with her husband and two kids, working out, and reading. She is excited to meet a whole new group of students and teachers this year and looks forward to a great year!

Eve Hogerheide has been a teacher for 17 years at different grade levels. She got her Bachelor's degree from UC Berkeley before getting her multiple subject teaching credential at CSU Monterey Bay, and Master’s degree in Education at UC Davis. She taught in Hayward, Del Paso Heights, and for the last 12 years in North Highlands at CCAA.  She loves reading, learning languages, baking, hiking, playing with her three cats and one dog, and visiting national parks with her husband and three daughters. She is thrilled to be the Activities Director at RLPA and looks forward to helping students expand their capacity for leadership at our school to make RLPA an even better place!

Sincerely,

Amber Lozano
